My Top 5 Self-Care Winter Tips 💜

Renata here,

If there’s one month of the year when you should really prioritize self-care, it’s definitely December.

December can sometimes feel a bit stressful, and we also deal with shorter days and colder weather.

Winter makes us more prone to low mood, but don’t let the winter blues get the best of you!

Because self-care has the power to make you mentally and physically well…

And yes, I actually started off a bit negative, so it’s worth mentioning how wonderful this time of year can be!

It’s a time of reflection, appreciation and new beginnings - how beautiful is that?

Here are my top 5 winter self-care tips:
Winter walks

I know how hard it is to bring yourself outside, especially when it’s so tempting to just stay indoors in your woolly socks.

However, it’s really important for your body and mind to get at least an hour of fresh air every single day.

Another good reason to go for a nice winter walk is that inhaling fresh air can be really beneficial for the muscle contractions of your lungs and keeping them clear and healthy.

In addition, exhalation whilst walking is important for releasing airborne toxins to improve the quality of your well-being.

To me, walking in winter sparks a brighter state of mind and actually gives me more energy.

Reward yourself – it’s the season!

Unfortunately, often times we forget to congratulate ourselves for the accomplishments we’ve done.

It’s the end of the year and the perfect time to congratulate yourself for the accomplishments you’ve done!

If you have completed even one of your goals, then you deserve to be celebrated!

It’s okay to spoil yourself every once in a while, to promote your efficiency, and what better time than during the holidays?

Daily affirmations

Affirmations are a great way to boost your motivation and self-esteem!

They can help you feel more positive about yourself and your life, while also encouraging you to take action.

They’re also really helpful if you find yourself feeling too down on yourself or having negative thoughts.

It’s the end of the year, making it the perfect time to think about all the things that have gone well for you.

It’s also a good idea to make a list of all the things you like about yourself (and I’m sure there is a long list!).

You’ll feel more confident and then you’ll be more likely to succeed in whatever goal you’re trying to reach next year.

Keep up with your skin care routine

The winter is not kind to the skin at all.

During this time, the skin is prone to dry out more often because of the weather and having a consistent skin care routine definitely helps me keep my skin healthy.

Keeping up with your skincare routine will allow you to unwind the stress and chaos that sometimes comes with the holiday season.

This is the time you take for yourself and as a bonus your skin will be glowing.

Take time to relax

A warm bath for example can relax as well as help warm us up after a busy, cold winter day.

So go ahead and have that nice warm soak in the tub. Relax, let the stress of the day go and feel nice and warm, even if for a short time.

Between your tense muscles and the cold weather, a refreshing hot bath is among the perfect ways to relax your body and mind.

It also helps me to get a great, restful sleep afterwards...

Drinking a cup of hot chocolate or any other warm drink also allows us to unwind.

Winter is the season of holidays and joy, but it can also be a challenging time of year.

Self-care is an important part of being happy and healthy….

Until next time,
Renata xx
