7 ways to treat a crepey neck, ranked.
From the thing that costs nothing to the thing that costs a month's salary. What each approach actually targets, what it does not, roughly what it costs and how long before you would see anything.
- Ranked for a neck that already looks crepey
- Including the free habit with the most long-term leverage
- Honest downsides for every entry, including ours

Getting this choice wrong is expensive in a way that is easy to miss. Not the money — the time. Neck skin changes slowly, so any approach needs six to twelve weeks before you can fairly judge it. Pick the wrong one and you do not find out for three months, by which point you have decided nothing works and stopped trying.
It is also worth knowing before you spend anything that a large part of what people call "crepey" is dryness rather than structural change. The neck has fewer oil glands than the face, loses moisture faster and holds less of it — so skin there stops reflecting light evenly and starts to look papery well before anything underneath has actually given way. That single fact reorders this entire list.
How we ranked these
For treating a neck that already looks crepey — not for prevention, which would put a different entry at the top. We say so where it matters.
What we used
Published dermatological consensus on neck skin, the 23 reviews on our own product page including the critical ones, and the questions our customer emails actually ask.
What we did not do
Run a clinical trial, or test rival brands in a lab. We are not going to dress marketing up as research — where we do not know something, the entry says so.
What we weighed
What it targets, realistic time to visible change, cost over a year, how much effort it takes daily, and how likely you are to still be doing it in three months.
The ranking
Seven approaches, from the cheapest to the most invasive.
A cream formulated for neck skin, used twice a day
Best everyday treatment · from €39

This sits at the top for one reason: it targets the thing that is most likely to be wrong, at the lowest cost, with the least chance of you abandoning it. If a meaningful part of what you are seeing is dryness and surface texture on thin, under-cared-for skin, a cream aimed at exactly that skin is the highest-probability first move.
The word "formulated for neck skin" is doing real work in that sentence. A face cream repurposed downwards is entry five, and it ranks where it ranks for a reason.
Ours is Resculpt & Lift: a 60 ml cream for the neck and décolleté that puts three targeted active systems over a moisture base built for skin that dries out fast. Lifting peptides to support elastin and the appearance of firmness. An amino acid complex supporting the collagen matrix and the look of smoother texture. Restorative calcium (Calcium Hydroxymethionine) supporting the skin's proteins and lipids. Then glycerin, shea butter, Aquaxyl and vitamin E underneath — the part that answers first, because it is the part addressing the dryness.
A pea-size, morning and evening, swept upwards from the collarbones to the jawline. Ten seconds. One jar is about two months.
What it does well
- Targets the most likely cause — surface dryness and texture — directly
- €39 for roughly two months, which is the cheapest paid option here
- Ten seconds, twice a day: realistic to still be doing in three months
- Low irritation risk on thin skin compared with acids or retinoids
- 60 days to judge it with the jar open, refund if it does not work
Where it falls short
- It is a cosmetic cream: it will not fix loose skin after weight loss or a defined jowl
- Nothing visible in the first fortnight beyond comfort and softness
- Sold direct online only — no counter, no tester, no sales assistant
- 23 reviews on our product page at a 4.0 average, which is fewer than the big brands have
- No SPF in it, so you still need entry two
Verdict: the sensible first move for most people, because it is cheap, quick, low-risk and aimed squarely at the most common cause. If you are going to try one thing on this list, try this — and give it eight weeks, not two.
60 ml, €39, a pea-size twice a day. 60 days to decide with the jar open.
Start my neck routine — €3960 ml · a pea-size twice a day · 60-day money-back promiseTaking your SPF down to your collarbones
Best long-term move · costs nothing extra
If this list were ranked for prevention rather than treatment, this would be number one and it would not be close. We would rather say that plainly than pretend our cream is the most important thing on the page.
Cumulative daylight exposure is one of the largest drivers of how ageing skin looks anywhere on the body, and the front of the neck and chest are angled towards the sky for every hour you spend outdoors, all year. Meanwhile most people's sunscreen stops at the jaw.
It costs nothing, because you already own the sunscreen. It just has to travel nine centimetres further.
What it does well
- The single highest-leverage habit on this page over a span of years
- No additional cost if you already use a facial SPF
- Protects the décolleté at the same time, which ages on the same schedule
- Works alongside literally everything else on this list
Where it falls short
- Prevention, not repair — it will not improve the texture you already have
- Needs to be genuinely daily, including in winter and on grey days
- Slow, invisible payoff: you never get to see what you avoided
Verdict: not an alternative to the others, a companion to all of them. Do this regardless of what else you decide.
A retinoid, used carefully on the neck
Strongest evidence · highest irritation risk
Retinoids have the deepest evidence base in topical skincare for the appearance of lines and skin texture. That is not in dispute, and we are not going to pretend otherwise because we sell a peptide cream.
The complication is the specific area. Neck skin is thin, folds constantly and has fewer oil glands — which makes it the place irritation, redness and peeling turn up first and worst. Plenty of people who tolerate a retinoid perfectly well on their face cannot tolerate the same strength below the chin.
If you go this route: lowest strength you can find, two nights a week to start, buffered over a moisturiser, and never on the same night as an acid.
What it does well
- The best-evidenced topical ingredient category for skin texture and fine lines
- Widely available at every price point
- Works on the face at the same time
Where it falls short
- Irritation, redness and peeling are common on neck skin specifically
- Increases sun sensitivity — so entry two becomes mandatory, not optional
- Needs slow, patient introduction; many people quit in the first fortnight
- Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Verdict: the strongest active option if your skin tolerates it, and a genuinely miserable six weeks if it does not. Worth trying after you have a moisture routine that is working, not instead of one.
In-clinic energy treatments — HIFU, radiofrequency, microneedling
Biggest change · biggest cost
This is the only category on the list that works below the surface, and it is the only one that can address early structural laxity rather than the look of it. If your concern is genuine slackness rather than texture, nothing topical is going to match it.
It is also, by a wide margin, the most expensive and the most variable. Cost runs to several hundred euros per session, most protocols need more than one, and results depend heavily on the practitioner's skill and on your own tissue.
What it does well
- The only option here that acts below the skin's surface
- Can address early laxity that no cream will touch
- Results can last considerably longer than a topical routine
Where it falls short
- Several hundred euros per session, usually repeated
- Outcome varies a lot by practitioner, device and individual
- Downtime, discomfort and, with any procedure, a risk of adverse effects
- Needs a proper consultation — this is not a thing to book off an advert
Verdict: the right answer for structural laxity and the wrong answer for crepey texture, which is usually cheaper to address. If you are considering it, see a qualified practitioner rather than taking advice from a skincare brand's website.
Using your face cream on your neck
Free · and the reason many people give up
Better than nothing, and we would never tell someone to stop. But it ranks here because of two practical problems that people rarely notice they have.
First, formulation: your face cream was balanced and tested for thicker, oilier, more resilient skin. Its texture and its actives were chosen for that, not for a thin, mobile, oil-poor area.
Second, and more mundane: watch what you actually do at the sink tonight. Most of it goes on the face. The neck gets whatever is left on your fingertips, which is usually not much and sometimes nothing at all.
What it does well
- Costs nothing extra
- Some hydration is meaningfully better than none
- No new habit to build
Where it falls short
- Formulated for different skin, with a different oil content and different needs
- In practice the neck gets a fraction of the dose the face gets
- Rich face creams can feel heavy on the décolleté
- Almost never applied over the jaw, which is where the mismatch shows
Verdict: the default most women are already on, and the baseline the rest of this list has to beat. If this is you, you have not yet found out what targeted care would do.
Neck patches and silicone pads
Short-term smoothing · not a treatment
Worn overnight, silicone pads hold the skin flat and trap moisture against it. The morning after, horizontal lines genuinely can look softer.
The honest question is what happens by lunchtime. This is occlusion and hydration doing temporary work, plus the mechanical effect of having stopped the skin folding for eight hours. Useful before an event; not a course of treatment.
What it does well
- A visible short-term smoothing effect the next morning
- Reusable, so ongoing cost is low
- Discourages side-sleeping creases while worn
Where it falls short
- Largely temporary — the effect fades through the day
- Uncomfortable to sleep in for many people, so adherence collapses fast
- Can irritate or trap sweat on sensitive skin
- Does nothing for overall texture, tone or hydration during the day
Verdict: a genuinely useful trick the night before something that matters. Not a substitute for daily care.
Neck exercises, gua sha and facial massage
Pleasant · least evidence for this problem
Massage increases local blood flow and can make skin look briefly brighter and less puffy. Gua sha is enjoyable, costs almost nothing after the stone, and gets people to actually touch the area with product, which has its own value.
What there is very little evidence for is the claim that it tightens or lifts crepey neck skin. Some "neck exercises" circulating online ask you to repeatedly crease exactly the skin you are trying to smooth, which is, at best, counterproductive.
What it does well
- Pleasant, free after the initial purchase, and easy to keep up
- Encourages proper product application over the whole area
- Temporary brightening and reduced puffiness
Where it falls short
- Little evidence of any lasting effect on crepiness or laxity
- Some routines repeatedly fold the very skin you want to smooth
- Excessive dragging on thin skin is not a good idea
- Easy to mistake a short-term flush for a real change
Verdict: keep it if you enjoy it and pair it with something that works. Do not expect it to carry the result on its own.
All seven at a glance
What each one targets, costs and takes.
| Approach | What it targets | Cost | Daily effort | Time to visible change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A neck-specific daily cream | Dryness, texture, the look of fine lines | €39 per ~2 months | 10 seconds, twice a day | Comfort in 2 weeks · texture 3–6 weeks |
| SPF down to the collarbones | Future damage, not current texture | €0 extra | 5 seconds, every morning | Years — you never see it |
| A retinoid | Texture and the look of fine lines | €15–€60 per bottle | 2–3 nights a week, carefully | 8–12 weeks, if tolerated |
| In-clinic energy treatments | Early structural laxity | Several hundred € per session | Clinic appointments | Weeks to months, varies widely |
| Face cream on the neck | A little hydration | €0 extra | Whatever is left on your fingers | Limited |
| Patches and silicone pads | Horizontal lines, temporarily | €15–€40 reusable | Worn overnight | Next morning, then fades |
| Massage and gua sha | Circulation and puffiness | €10–€30 once | 5 minutes, most days | Temporary |

I have always looked after my face skin care but have neglected caring for my neck. I started to notice that my neck wasn't as good as my face, instead of taut, it was wrinkled and loose skin. Super!!!
I bought this because I saw a really positive review of it in my Google feed. I like it very much. It smells fantastic and I hope to see great results when I’ve been using it for a little longer.
Resculpt and Neck cream
Really loving the Resculpt and Neck cream and using it daily
Resculpt and Lift Neck Cream
A really luxurious cream. Lovely to use
Very good neck cream
I have been using this neck cream for 8 weeks and have noticed some slight improvement in slackness. Slackness from weight loss is my main problem as I have always protected my skin from the sun. I will keep using this and hope to see nore noticeable results in time. The downside is the small jar but a little goes a long way.

About this page. This ranking is published by Gentle & Rose, which makes and sells Resculpt & Lift Neck Cream — entry number one. It is advertising, not an independent review, and it is disclosed as such at the top of the page as well as here.
About the ranking. The order reflects our own reasoning about cost, effort, likelihood of sticking with it and the most common underlying cause, for a neck that already looks crepey. It is not the output of a clinical trial and we did not test competing products in a laboratory.
Not medical advice. Nothing here is medical advice. Retinoid suitability, and any in-clinic procedure, should be discussed with a qualified professional — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a skin condition or a history of reactions.
About the product. Resculpt & Lift Neck Cream is a cosmetic product for the neck and décolleté. Claims relate to the appearance and feel of skin. It is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Individual results vary. For external use only; avoid the eye area and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
About the photographs. Before-and-after images are customer photographs published with permission, taken in ordinary conditions at home. Lighting, angle and camera differ between the two pictures in every pair. They show one person's experience.
About the reviews. Quotes are unedited excerpts from reviews published on our product page, including reviews that report partial or slow results.
