4 Ways to Help your Skin Adjust From Summer to Fall 🍂

The days are getting shorter, and the air is getting colder.

Fall is here!

Autumn undoubtedly has its charm, but if you’re anything like me, your skin is having a hard time adjusting to the transition from hot summer days to the lower temperatures.

A change in season typically means a change in the way the skin behaves.

The air tends to become cooler, which can cause dryness and irritation if you’re not careful enough with what you’re using on your face.

Dryness, dullness, and hyperpigmentation are all common during this time…

That’s why today I thought I’d share some of my favourite fall skin care practices with you.

1. Choose your cleanser carefully

Fall can really mess with your skin and choosing a cleanser that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils or leave it feeling tight and dry.

Using a cleanser that is too harsh for to your skin can lead to tiny cracks in your skin barrier which can lead to a larger loss of hydration and inflammation.

Hydrating cleansers keep the moisture in your skin and don’t strip it of the natural oils you produce.

The Hydrating Cleanser is a good choice that boosts hydration, while deeply cleansing the skin thanks to the silicone brush attached.

2. Boost hydration with a toner

So many people skip on using a toner because they think it doesn’t provide no benefits.

In reality toners can give your skin so many benefits, such as balancing your skin’s pH.

A toner can help counteract the dryness that occurs.

Combined with the Rose Youth Elixir, using 100% rose water toner can give your skin an antioxidant boost.

3. Use thicker moisturiser

A light moisturizer is usually enough for the summer days, however during fall using a heavier moisturiser will prevent moisture loss.

This is because as temperature drop, our bodies naturally produce less sweat – which means we lose a lot of water through our pores.

If you don’t use an appropriate amount of moisturiser, your skin might become dry and flaky.

So, what kind of moisturiser should you be using?

With special care for your microbiome and skin barrier, we formulated the Prebiotic Moisturising Cream.

What makes it a good fit for your autumn skincare routine?

While the Prebiotic Moisturising cream has a thicker texture, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It contains a prebiotic complex that takes care of your microbiome and skin barrier.

4. Last but not least: Don’t forget SPF

You can be quick to think that when the sun isn’t as harsh and it’s colder outside, the sun is not harmful.

Something important to remember is how UVA and UVB rays work during fall…

While UVB rays (the ones that cause sunburn) are not as strong anymore, UVA rays (responsible for premature ageing, a.k.a fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation) are at full force.

UVA rays can also increase the likelihood of skin cancer.

So, before you go for a beautiful autumn walk, don’t forget to apply SPF.

For both 50 SPF protection and rejuvenation effect, you can try Antarctic Sun Defence.

The change of season can bring many skincare issues, but luckily, with the right products, you can enjoy fall without worrying about the weather affecting your skin.
And it’s always good to remember that we can experience the beauty of all four seasons, despite the occasional skin woes they bring!
